Chapter 1 Saved at the brink of death
"The sensor picked up something", says the console crew in a space exploration craft.

"Stray signals ?" The officer said.

Crew, "No. It's different".

This was a space exploration vessel from Earth. On it were scientists and explorers, trying to map out the areas near the Great Planet, where Princess Aurora lived. They just visited the planet and was leaving at another course to map out the stretch of space there.

The officer hit the key to bring up the radar. An small object was detected, from the weak "bleep" sound of the radar it is not far away, but it is just big enough to show up on radar.

"Run some tests first to check...", commanded the officer.

"Yes, sir", responded to the crew at the console.

Console crew, "It's not stray signal...it's signal from a life form, a being".

The visual screen was up -- there floating in space is a human body. The signal shows that the person is barely alive.



Long sign.....

The person floating in space opened the eyes to take a glimpse -- still the dark starry space -- nobody around.

The person could barely move.

She turned her head a bit and caught the glimpse of the spaceship.

"They are not coming for me.......they cannot see me..."

She has been floating around like this for months. She was seriously wounded, but miraculously her vital parts were only slightly damaged.

"Kugo..."...as she still recalled the man who tried to call her back from her flight to death..."..I..I had to...I could not face you or the Princess..." tears leaked from her eyes....

Then she thought the spaceship turned to her...

"Why am I still alive...or am I already dead ?" She was still in a half-coma half-dreamy mode, as her energy is slowly dwindling away. She is slowly dying.

She looked towards the space ship again....

She thinks she saw a probe flying towards her, there were 2 people in it.

"Are they going to rescue me ...?" She thought. She opened her eyes wider, trying to make out the images afar.

Then a face in the probe triggered her deepest emotions.

On the face was a pair of eyes looking back to her, with caring and kindness...the woman reminded of her mother...her heart aches...

"Ma...?" She thought....then she blacked-out.

She then felt a tender hand touching her body...... she felt naked...."...who's taken off my suit...?"

In her dreams... she was on her bed... hurt and sick, and her mother was caring for her ... the time when she was wounded ..."ma ma..." She murmured... Her hands moved and touched soft tender hand, she tried to grab and hold it, but she was too weak... "ma ma..... don't leave me behind..."

That soft tender hand hold her hand, and another tender hand touched her face... wiped her tear dry gently...


"She's a cyborg...". A very gentle female voice said.

She gradually woke up from her dreams.. eyes still shut because she was too exhausted and weak to open her eyes...".. I'm dreaming again...?....who is that ...?"

"The wounds are serious..... but her vitals were not that bad..... we could nurse her back to health" The gentle female voice continued.

"The cyborg technology is not the same as here on Earth, her vital parts were out of the way of whatever harmed her....". Another voice added.

"We will place her in the cyborg recovery chamber...she could gradually absorb energy and recover" The lady said.

"What happened to her ?" Another one asked.

"Gentle...she is hurting". The same female voice speaks, at the same tht pair of soft and tender hands was moving around the female cyborg's body, examining the wounds..

"It's bad..... her chest sustained so many wounds... it's lucky she survived..." The other voice said.

"It must be very painful for her..." The lady continued, examine the female cyborg's wound gently.

She heard the talking and feel that she is lying on a bed or an operating table.

It was the first time her body lying flat with support, and also the first time after months of dead silence in space she heard human voices -- and the first time after a real long time, she felt a tender hand gently touching her body, and tenderly treating her wounds..."is that mother...?" She thought.

"Argh..." Apparently one of her deep wounds is disturbed during the examination...she jolted. Then a hand, the same tender hand she felt, touched her face and the gentle voice talk to her, "Easy....we will take care of you... we will not hurt you...I know the wounds hurt...I will try to ease your pain.."

She opened her eyes.

Before her was a face of a woman in her 50's looking at her. The lady's eyes is filled with kindness and tenderness, and the lady is touching her face gently.

Her heart trembled and ached -- the pains of old memories surfaced...."Mother...." she thought...her heart ached.

She tried hard to contain her emotions within, and hold back her tears.

She gazed at the lady. The lady seems to feel her emotions too, gently stroke her hair. "Child, you are safe here with us in this spacecraft..."
The lady asked, "what's your name ?"

"Belamis, Belamis, cyborg warrior from the planet Gariusu...".

"I am Dr. Kitty, you will return to Earth with us and recover at my facilities", the lady responded."You need a lot of rest... I will put you into cyborg sedation...Belamis."

Belamis heard her called her by name, that voice reminded her of her mother, at this moment, she knew that lady before her saved her life, and she gave her all her trust.

"It will be just like sleeping.." Dr. Kitty gently remarked, and stroke her hair tenderly.

Belamis gazed at her, then she felt sleepy, and slowly fell asleep....and before that tears rolled down her face from the corner of her blue eyes..

Dr. Kitty saw all that, "Her eyes are beautiful, and her hair..", and she touched her face gently, feeling deep compassion, "Poor child....she suffered so much..."

"Belamis ?" Assistant Professor exclaimed. "You mean Belamis ?"

"What is it ?" Dr. Kitty responded.

"Belamis, the cyborg who was on the enemy side before, then fight with Kugo, then sacrifice herself before the company arrived at the Great Planet!" Assistant Professor muttered as he searches through piles of papers.

"Ah, there it is .... her profile!!!! Look..... home planet Gariusu destroyed, apparently lone survivor...space wanderer...fights with electromagnetic sword...and her fighting powers rivals Kugo..."

"I know already...." Dr. Kitty, replied impatiently.

"You know...??"

"Kugo told me all about her before".

"She is a special girl, special to Kugo....a very good friend. Kugo felt very bad for not trying hard enough to stop her...and let her fly to her death."

Dr. Kitty remembered when Kugo returned he was different, and often staring at the night sky. He visited the Great Planet often, and every time he came back he seemed sad.

"She, has gone through a lot of traumas...." Dr. Kitty murmured as she goes through the information about Belamis, and recalling the things Kugo told her about Belamis.

"It will take just months for us to nurse her back to health.... but for heart to heal...we don't know".

Dr. Kitty stood up and walked towards the monitoring pane, the other side was Belamis. She was asleep, under cyborg sedation so that she could rest and recover.

Dr. Kitty watched Belamis twitched, frowned and sort of talking in her dreams. Dr. Kitty even thought she saw Belamis was shedding a tear in her dreams......

Blasts everywhere, monsters spitting out balls of fire and destructive laser beams. People, buildings and everything are destroyed. Belamis is welding her sword, trying to slay every monster, trying to save as many of her people....but behind the helmet is a pair of teary eyes....

She yelled as she slay another monster, leaped up and stabbed another one...the fighting seems to be unending....
Then suddenly the image that hurt her most appeared...her mother was hit by a destructive beam of the monster...and was vapourized...

Belamis wake up, her body covered in sweat and her eyes teary..... a nightmare again....the same one that haunted her for countless nights...that's why she never slept at all.

She breathes heavily....and she looked around....she remembered now...she was inside the research facilities of Dr. Kitty...who rescued her. She was under her care.

Then the image of Dr. Kitty and her mother appeared....she was into deep soul searching and thought..."Dr. Kitty....mother....".

The emotions stirred again, she struggled to hold back her tears.

"I will leave as soon as I get well". Belamis thought. It appeared to be late at night, but Belamis did not want to go back to sleep.

She felt she had enough strength. She lifted herself up from the bed and sit up, pulling the blanket away from her, and looked at her body.

Dr. Kitty's skilled hands indeed had treated her wounds.

She noticed something...her fighting suit was off. She was naked inside, but only wearing a patient's gown on her.

Belamis' planet cyborg technology is very different from that on Earth. Instead of building half-human half-robot being, they have nano-bot technology, which creates miniaturize implants all inside her body. These implants boosted her strength, speed, and altered her muscle texture, tissues and skin, so that they became strong and tough, enough to resist high voltage electricity, radioactivity, extremes of temperature and environment that would be lethal to most humans.


She searched for clothes to put on. She found a pair of light blue jeans, a top, a pair of white sneakers, and a jacket, all fitted her perfectly.

She put the clothes on, then walked out the room, then finding her ways in the facility, she opened an exit and was out in the open.

She saw starry skies, but she also breathed fresh air, felt the wind, heard sounds of insects....all was so peaceful she had long forgotten.

"They fit well don't they ?"

Belamis turned back, it was Dr. Kitty.

"I bought the clothes for you....your fighting suit is all damaged...you will need clothes" She continued, walking towards her.

"Thank you", Belamis replied.

She turned and looked at the night skies.

"You have recovered very well....we put you in our cyborg recovery chamber, then your body started to absorb the energy, and started to heal itself..." Dr. Kitty said. "I think you will recover fully in two months...after that"....

"I will leave..." Belamis said.

"But how ...and where will you go ?" Dr. Kitty asked.

Belamis realized, her jet was blown up. She has no means to leave, and neither did she know where to go. She looked at Dr. Kitty, then looked at the starry night, "Even if I leave...where should I go ?"

She remembered her days of wandering in space alone, at times she fought monsters by herself, got wounded, there were nobody to take care of her, except herself.

"You don't have to leave...besides....I wanted help in my facilities..." Dr. Kitty said. "Let's head back...it's a bit cold out here".

Belamis looked at her and saw that she had not put a jacket on, and is only in thin blouses.

Belamis took her jacket off and put it on Dr. Kitty, gently. Then they headed back to the facilities.

"Brilliant!" Assistant Professor exclaimed, as he stared at the meters.

Belamis was lifting weights, to test her strength, her biceps could lift over 100 lbs at ease.

Her strength tests and other tests on her physique were in flying colors.

"You have fully recovered." Dr. Kitty said, with a smile.

Belamis stood up, examining her body -- she knew she has recovered.

"Come with me." Dr. Kitty urged.

Belamis, looked at Dr. Kitty, nodded. At this point, Belamis gave her full trust to Dr. Kitty. Unbeknown to her, Belamis will give even more.

Remarks:
Most fans of Belamis (or Beramisu in Japanese phonetics), wanted Belamis to live.
This novel was about she survived miraculously.

Here Belamis was depicted to utter the name of her love one - Kugo and her loved to him is intense..

In the Japanese story Belamis was saved by the old Queen of the Great Planet, but I decided it would be more reasonable to have Dr. Kitty save Belamis...

宇宙探測船載著科學家和探測人員，正離開大王星。

「有信號…」值班的操控台人員說。

「那只是附近發出的雜訊罷？」 船長問。

「不像。我先驗證一下…」 值班的操控台人員用標準的訊號檢測程序確認。

「是生命反應…」

「打開顯示器和雷達…」船長下令。

雷達發現一個小物體。物體實在太小，要不是探測船接近它，也不可能發現它。

顯示器看見不遠處，約數百米外有個物體。

「那…好像是個人…」

長嘆……

那人在太空飄浮已經不知多少日子。大爆炸後四週只是死寂無聲，和星空，那人想動也沒有力氣了。

「怎麼了…那太空船是不是向我飛來…他們不會是看見我罷…」

那人受了重傷、但奇跡地沒有傷到要害、才能支持到這刻。

「孫行者…」 她想起那個不斷叫自己回頭別去送死的男子的聲音…「我怎能面對你們和公主…」

她察覺太空船好像真的向她飛來

「我在做夢…還是我已經死去…」她一直不是昏迷就是迷迷糊糊

這時候她竭力睜大眼睛，要看清楚正過來的飛艇…

「他們來救我的嗎？」

飛艇的大窗前有兩個身影、她和其中一人有眼神接觸，她心頭大震。那眼睛充滿關切與慈愛，深情的看著自己。

「媽媽？」

她內心激動不已，又昏迷過去了。

迷糊中她感到有隻柔軟的手，很溫柔的撫摸自己身體，她感到身上赤裸…

「誰脫了我身上的衣服？…」那溫柔的手碰到她的傷處，更加地輕柔的撫摸，怕弄痛了她。她的手感覺到那柔軟的手碰到自己的手，她試圖捉著那柔軟的手…那感覺像她從前如果生病受傷、母親憐愛地照顧自己一樣。
「媽媽…別走…」她想捉著那隻手、但力不從心。那柔軟的手握著她的手，一面拭乾她臉上的淚水。

「她是個再造人…」

她開始慢慢清醒過來，但眼睛還是睜不開。她太疲累了。「我在什麼地方？我又在做夢了？」

一把溫柔的女聲說：「她身體受了重傷，但幸好沒有傷到要害。我們可以照顧她，讓她康復的。」

另一把聲音說：「她身體的再造人技術和地球不同。當她受傷的時候她才沒有傷到要害。」

那女聲說：「把她放入再造人醫療箱裡面，讓她慢慢吸收能量，她應該可以康復的。」

「到底她發生什麼事會受這樣的傷？」

「輕點兒。她身體很痛的。」那柔軟的手在她身上撫摸、檢驗她身上的傷。「她上身、胸部受了這樣的重創也能活下來、真是奇跡……一定是很痛楚的了…」

她聽到說話，也感到自己在一張床上面躺臥著。她好久沒有躺著在床上，也很近沒聽見人類的聲音了。

她也很久沒給一雙溫柔的手撫摸照顧過，她內心無限溫暖激動「難道是媽媽？」

「嗚…」 她身體一處傷處被牽動，禁不住輕呼，身體動了一下。

那雙溫柔的手輕撫她的臉，柔聲說：「放鬆罷。我知道你傷口很痛，我們會照顧你的。」

她慢慢睜開眼睛，映入眼簾的是張中年婦人的面孔，她一雙眼睛很慈祥的凝望著自己，眼神充滿憐愛，然後輕撫她。

她心頭一震，內心一痛，激動不已，她竭力忍著淚水。

那女子似乎感受到她內心的激動，輕撫她的頭髮，柔聲說︰「孩子，你在這裡很安全，你在我們的宇宙探測船上。你叫什麼名字？」

「比拉絲…來自加流斯星的戰士…比拉絲…」

「我是吉蒂博士，我們是來自地球的。我們會帶你會去我的研究所，醫好你。比拉絲，你需要休息，我會用再造人痲醉程序令你入睡，讓你好好休息。」

吉蒂博士心道：「她長得好俊美，白晢的肌膚、長長的睫毛、高鼻、濃密的一對劍眉、淡紅的薄唇，一雙眼睛好像藍色的晴空那樣…眼神卻充滿憂鬱...」

比拉絲聽見她叫自己的名字。那聲音令她再想起母親。她現在知道是這眼前的女士救了自己，她對吉蒂博士充滿了信任。

吉蒂博士撫摸著比拉絲的秀髮，說：「那只是好像睡覺一樣、你會很舒服的…」

比拉絲定睛看著吉蒂博士，然後開始感到眼睏，慢慢合上眼皮，睡去了。她眼角流下了淚水。

「她很美麗…藍色的眼睛、烏黑的秀髮……她受了太多苦…」

「比拉絲？」 杜杜教授說。「真的是比拉絲？」

「怎麼了？」吉蒂博士問道。

「比拉絲不就是曾經和孫行者等為敵那個再造人嗎？」 杜杜教授邊嘮嘮叨叨，邊找資料。

「就是這個檔案！她曾經是敵人軍團的隊長，和孫行者作戰，然後又和孫行者同一陣線，最後犧牲自己的…」

「來自加流斯星，加流斯星毀滅，她可能是唯一生存的，然後在宇宙四處流浪，武器是她的電磁劍…估計她戰鬥力和孫行者不相上下…」

「這些我早已經知道了…」吉蒂博士答道。

「你知道了？」

「孫行者把她的事情告訴過我…在孫行者心中她是個特別女子。孫行者很關心她的。在往大王星那天，比拉絲犧牲自己和怪物同歸於盡，孫行者其實一直自責沒有盡力阻止她…」

吉蒂博士一直留意到自從回地球以來，孫行者的態度很不同。少了胡鬧，經常望著星空，還藉故到大王星，每次回來都帶傷感。

「而且，她一直遇到很多傷痛的事情…」 吉蒂博士正迴想孫行者告訴她比拉絲的事情，包括喪失故鄉星球的事情。

「治療她身體的傷只需要幾個月，但是她內心的創傷…」

吉蒂博士走到療養室前玻璃，看著正在再造人痲醉程序下睡著的比拉絲。她好像在作噩夢，面上不斷扭動、輾轉反側，眼角流淚。


夢境中到處都是爆炸聲，火光烘烘，四處是人們驚惶的叫喊。城市各處建築物倒下著火， 比拉絲邊吶喊邊揮劍，對抗攻擊她星球的怪獸，希望救自己的同胞。頭盔眼罩下是雙淚眼。

她奮力飛躍，砍倒一隻怪獸，但戰鬥沒完沒了。這是她最痛心的景象浮現：她母親被怪物熱線擊中，灰飛煙滅…

「媽媽…」比拉絲驚醒，全身汗水，面上也是淚水。這噩夢不斷的出現，因此比拉絲怎樣也不會睡覺的。長期的壓力與不眠，令她心靈枯竭疲累不已，她只有不斷戰鬥才可以不去想這些傷痛。

她透了一口氣，環目四顧。她記起了，她在地球，在吉蒂博士的研究所裡面。吉蒂博士救了她，吉蒂博士正照料她。

吉蒂博士和母親的面孔在比拉絲心中浮現，她內心不斷掙扎…「媽媽……吉蒂博士…」。比拉絲內心激盪，她努力忍著淚水。「我完全康復後就馬上離開…」

她看見現在似乎夜闌人靜，但她也不想再睡覺，於是下床。

吉蒂博士悉心照顧下，比拉絲身上的傷已經好了很多。她發現自己已經不再穿著往日的戰鬥服，只是有病人衣服在身上。

比拉絲的星球的再造人技術比地球先進。地球是製造半人半機械的再造人，但比拉絲的星球是把微型機體殖入身體、結合身體，把身體機能提升，而且令身體可以抵受高熱、電磁波、幅射與高壓電，令身體速度提升和更加強壯。她身上的戰鬥服是用來蔽體和提供其他保護的。

比拉絲四處找衣服，找到了一套夾克、卡其布長褲、衣服與白色便鞋。這些都很稱身。

穿好了衣服，她就四處找出口，終於走出研究所，看見一片夜空。

她深呼吸，仰望星空，聆聽週圍的聲音。這些是她很久也沒有體驗過的了。


「這些衣服合身罷？」背後傳來吉蒂博士的聲音。「我給你買的。你那戰鬥衣服已經破損得不能穿了。」

「謝謝你。」 比拉絲回頭答道。

吉蒂博士走近， 與比拉絲看著星空。

「你身體復原得很快。你在再造人療養箱中開始吸收能量，復原進度很理想，我估計你兩個月後就能完全康復的了」 吉蒂博士道。

「我康復後…我打算離開這裡…」 比拉絲說。

「但你可以去那裡呢？你如何離開呢？」

這時比拉絲才想起自己的太空戰機已經爆炸，她沒有任何方法離開地球，何況她也不知自己可以去什麼地方。

「浩瀚宇宙…我要去那裡？那裡是我的家？」

比拉絲想起自己失去故鄉星球後流浪的日子，如何獨自面對宇宙的怪獸、自己受了傷無人照顧，自己孤苦一人。

「你用不著那麼心急離開…就待在地球，在我的研究所協助我罷…」 吉蒂博士柔聲道。

「夜裡很冷，我們還是回去罷」吉蒂博士說。

比拉絲看見她只穿了單薄的衣服，就脫下自己的夾克給吉蒂博士披上，兩人回去研究所。

「真捧！」 杜杜教授贊道。

比拉絲進行體能測試，她手臂輕易舉起一百磅。其餘的測試她超越所有指標。

「你已經完全康復了。」 吉蒂博士道。

比拉絲進點頭，她知道自己已經康復。經過這些日子吉蒂博士仁慈與愛的照料，比拉絲已十分信任吉蒂博士，心底發誓，要對吉蒂博士忠心。
